I loathe narcissism, but I approve of vanity–Diana Vreeland
The thing about the world of fashion and style is that it revolves around beautiful clothes. But as ironical as it may sound, sometimes we get so caught up with trends that we forget the simple pleasure of dressing up (or down). I feel style should not be so complicated and trends should not dictate all our sartorial choices. These days, perhaps because of my extremely busy days and the fact that I am spinning around many different plates, I do lean towards minimal and effortless looks. In the fashion dictionary, it is called norm core–the act of blending in rather than standing out.
It is about rejecting the razmatazz, refusing to be a peacock and instead being an every day pigeon. An unfussy look of t-shirt, jeans and trainers is exactly that–unfussy but take a leaf from late Steve Jobs who probably nailed the look even before it entered the fashion echleons.
If you know me, you know I am all about personalising each look because otherwise where’s the fun and I done exactly that here. I have paired my striped tee with a ripped jeans. I have used floral scarf and a candy colour satchel to add a dash of colour to this look. For footwear, instead of trainers I have opted for ankle boots. This look is edgy, chic yet feminine. It is fun and yet functional–the new fashion cool.
