Date night ensembles should be fun and flirty but anniversary date night means channelising your inner Goddess. And a dress worthy of the Goddess that you are. An ensemble with a great dose of pizzazz and va-va-voom factor.

I opted for this (almost) floor length gown that’s understated yet glamorous. A statement dress that’s comfortable yet chic.

Anniversary nights definitely call for extra drama and as Coco Chanel said, “You only live once; you might as well be amusing.” What better time to remind your better half and yourself of this reality, don’t you think?

One of my favourite icons of all time Coco Chanel once famously stated, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” After my maiden venture covering the first day, I am more than convinced.

London Fashion Week taught me:-

1) Rain or Shine, London loves fashion.

2) They might be the least talked about people and probably under appreciated. But the staff and workers ensures that there is a method to madness plus in their black attire they were stylish. Period.

So, yes there is more to fashion than clothes. There is art, culture, ideas, attitude and originality. Don’t you agree?

PS: You can check out my interview with opening designer Bora Aksu here whose show was sponsored by the Turkish Tourism Ministry.

19 August 1883 is the most stylish date in history. On this day  a designer, no a trailblazer was born. Her name was Coco Chanel. The woman who gave us the little black dress, the woman who “freed” us from tight, restrictive clothes and the woman who saw style in everything around her.

Every fashionista worth her rock salt loves her for she was (is) a style icon like no other but for me she is much more than her Chanel brand. She was a person who was determined to rise above her less-than-perfect childhood, a woman who was not afraid to tread on her own path and a lady who gave birth to style.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from Coco Chanel.

The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.

In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.

You live but once; you might as well be amusing.

I don’t care what you think about me. I don’t think about you at all.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Coco Chanel once famously said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Now, who could argue with an icon like her? I definitely feel that every girl should have an ensemble that feels like a perfect marriage between class and fab. Yes, I would love to have a Chanel trousseau in my wardrobe but times are tough. And tough times call for smart measures.

To emulate the Chanel mantra, I’ve combined a black lace pussy-bow blouse with a dip hem skirt to re-create my own classy and fab look right from the British high-street.

There is something so subtly romantic about the pussy-bow blouse, it is timeless yet feminine whilst a dip-hem skirt lends an ethereal charm yet is modern and trendy. A waist-cincher is a must-have to accentuate those curves.

What makes an outfit classy and fabulous for you? And how do you give a classic twist to a trend. Would love to hear your thoughts.
