One of the looks I am loving at the moment is the uber cool–sports luxe look. Sports inspired look can be flattering, flexible and unlike other fashion trends–super comfortable. Perhaps this is why everyone from Gucci, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Topshop have embraced this style. Here’s how I’ve personalised this trend.
As your pregnancy progresses; comfort does become a major factor when it comes to styling. So here, I have worn a pair of jersey joggers and my favourite: “hand off the bump” word tee. (cheeky, I know). I have also used my comfy walking shoes–a cross between flats and gym trainers and a plaid shirt which is perfect for adding a light layer.

For a girly element, I have added a bright blue bag and pinkish sunglasses. I am certainly loving the sports luxe style this season are you?
As I enter my third trimester, it is all about celebrating and respecting my ever-growing curves. For my birthday (which I celebrated yesterday), I wanted to feel special and glamorous after all I am going to soon embark on the exciting and challenging journey called Motherhood. I opted for a ruched dress in blue–apparently one of the hottest colours of the season.
A ruched dress is a great way to compliment your curves and it has just the right amount of glam. Surprisingly, it is also comfortable enough to walk around the entire day. I have accessorised the dress with simple gold jewellery and rose gold pumps. To be honest, I am not a clutch girl. I love big, roomy bags that can carry my world. So, here I have opted for a tan bucket bag.
Yes, there are days when I am concerned about my changing body. But, I sincerely feel that this is one of the best times and rather than fretting I keep reminding myself that I am carrying a little person inside. I don’t think pregnancy should be an excuse to forgo your style or loose your confidence because ultimately you are helping to perpetuate life on earth and surely it is more than some numbers on the scale.

As the temperature dipped, I took out my blue jacket to create a cool blue colour blocking effect. The result was surprisingly pleasing and the cherry on top of cake.
For a lifestyle and fashion blogger, I am actually quite rubbish at doing make-up. I am your 10 minute girl who would apply a dash of liner and mascara and some colour on lips before dashing off. But, I love experimenting and hence I am hoping to start a new series–trying on a trend–along with my style section. The premise is simple, I try on beauty trends from the runway and see how it translates in real life. And don’t be surprised if I thrash a trend I am and don’t intend to become a fashion victim and in any case this blog is all about encouraging personal style. Today, it is all about the blue eye shadow.
The blue eye shadow was a major hit on the runway. From Marc by Marc Jacobs to Bradley Mischka, models happily strutted with various hues of blue on their eyes. Blue is the colour of this year magazines have got us convinced; so I decided to hop on and test this trend (yes, I don’t mind being a guinea pig for this blog ;))
I used a mixture of blue eye shadows from Rimmel Glam’ Eyes Quod eye shadow state of grace. For my lower line, I used Maybelline Master Kajal Lapis Blue. To finish off, I used my trusty Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara black. Ready and all set to go, I was hoping for a va va voom effect.
Now for some real reactions and the bitter truth: while the hubby was not-so-pleasantly surprised and just pursed his lips for reaction. My mom and Father-in-law (all the way from India over skype) gave it a thumbs up calling it “glamorous.” My bravery back, I stepped out my fashionably forward concierge said she loved it and I was pleasantly surprised to see few people giving me second looks in approval.
Mission completed but I actually didn’t think it was successful. I just felt this look would be more suitable for night. It is definitely not true to my style. Whilst it looked awesome on the runway, I don’t think I will strutting in blue eye shadow anytime soon (save for late nights and going out with girls). For day wear, I would stick to my blue eyeliner from Bodyshop.
So will you or will you not try the blue eyeshadow look this SS14? Do share your thoughts.
If Black is mysterious and arrogant, White is elegant and graceful with just the right amount of playfulness. This why I am ditching the basic black this New Year and opting for the chic little White dress.
A classic colour like this one can go well with everything. For an effortless style, I’ve paired my little White Dress with black-grey accessories and Navy pumps.

I will definitely be rocking the little white dress this year. Will you?
I think bidding adieu to an exciting year should be done in style (like everything else). For this New Year’s Eve I am opting for a floor length dress that’s simple, glamorous yet roomy enough to shimmy the night away.
This year has been quite exciting for me. I achieved a lot and lost some and I cannot wait for the next year. How do I like to spend my 31 st Dec? With my loved ones and friends amidst great conversations, music and food, dancing the night away. How do you like to spend your last day of the year?
Here, I’ve opted for a Navy maxi dress with power shoulders and teamed up with simple accessories save for a pair of statement earrings. Yes, comfort is a big factor because I don’t like anything to keep me away from the dance floor ;).
Dress: River Island, Heels: Clarks (old), Watch: Tissot, Bracelet: Antique, Thin necklace: Swarvoski (gifted), Earrings: New Look, Lips: Mac O.
Hope you all have a great and safe New Year’s eve and an exciting, fulfilling 2014. 😀
PS: I am taking a mini-blogging break and will see all of you in Jan until then stay safe, stylish and remember style goes well with substance 🙂
