“You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” –Oscar Wilde

After teasing us for a while, it seems summer has finally arrived in UK (although it is getting grey as I write this). I was originally saving this dress for a staycation next month but considering we get like five sunny days here, I decided to take it out. Summer is synonymous with summer dress. I like the versatility and the lightness of this style. Fashion trends change every season but this is a style that always holds a firm place in every fashion lover’s summer wardrobe.

When I saw this colourful number in Kerala (India) in Pantaloons (an Indian retail), I knew I had to have it. The colours, the print, the perfect blend of eastern and western elements and the lovely Elephant motif on bottom had my attention from the first go. Colourful dresses in “summary” fabrics like cotton sums up summer dress for me. I have accessorised it with a simple charm necklace, earrings and bangles. Sandals and a little yet roomy bag seals my look. My top tips for finding and styling the perfect summer dress?

Dress: Pantaloons, Bag: Own Design, Accessories: Dubai/ London Portobello Market, Sandals: Hush Puppies

1) Opt for light weight materials that are airy and not stiff.

2) If you have a boyish figure go for short ones. If you are pear shaped opt for short ones as it will elongate your legs. Cinch in the waist to give you an hourglass.

3) Midi length is great for those with a hourglass figure or are apple shaped. Wear it with wedges if you are petite.

4) Finally, don’t forget to carry a lightweight cardi or chambray shirt for extra layer because even the weather is warm and flowers are blooming it is Britain after all.

Bottom line is summer dresses are a great option if you want to play dress up yet feel happy, light-hearted and free 🙂

Ever since Keira Knightley recycled her wedding dress; recycling has become a hot word in fashion (or has it?). Recycling or not, I love experimenting and trying out new things. So, here I am trying to create a winter layer look with my summer and fall pieces.

Winter Layers

Your summer dress  can  be turned into a winter ensemble with some clever layering.

Dress: Asos (worn here), Boucle Jacket: Next (old), coat: Lakeland (worn here), gloves: from Amsterdam, Scarf: H&M (old), Hat: TKMaxx, Boots: Timberland (worn here).

I’ve added Boucle jacket, suede coat, my trusty boots and must-have scarf , hat and gloves to be pleasantly warm after all my winter mantra is: keep calm and stay warm 😉

Skirt: Asos, Top: H&M, Shoes: New Look, Bag: India, Dancing girl necklace: Barcelona, Shades: Oscar Del a Renta

What can be better than a pleated skirt? A pleated skirt in sheer with dip hem details. Romance personified

Despite being a fashion and style lover, I’ve actually never really liked the quintessential Little Black Dress. Did you just gasp because of my style confession? To be honest I’ve always thought that the LBD is  tad boring.

But I always keep an open my mind and I am more than ready to do new things to broaden my horizons. So here I am.  When I saw this little black wrap dress with balloon sleeves I knew it cannot be turned town. Moral of this story: interesting details can really up the ante of any outfit.

Dress: Asos, Clutch: Next, Heels: Clarks, Earrings: Swarovski, Necklace: H and M, Bangles: India, Lips: Bodyshop Ruby Sparkle

I’ve added small dark pink earrings and bangles as well as blush pink statement necklace and rose gold heels for more pizzazz. A dash of red lipstick plus black kohl and you are ready to be a drama queen up for any theatrics.
