In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer–Albert Camus
Winter. It conjures up so many different ideas and emotions in me. I love the novelty of winter–the idea to sit with a cup of hot chocolate beside the heater or nice fire place (if I am lucky), doodling on fog stained windows and loosing myself in dog-eared pages of a book. Yes, winter can be special but at the same time the perpetual rain, greyness and shorter days gets on to me. When the gloom of winter strikes; I make it a point to inject color in my sartorial choices because sometimes that’s the best and easiest way to pep up your mood and your days.
Much like the tell-tale signs of nature; fashion and street style too seems to gravitate towards the dark side. Suddenly, you see a plethora of head to toe black, grey and hints of berry ruling the streets. However, I can only take so much of darkness and my mantra in winter months is to throw in some bright hues to keep is sassy.
A bright coat has a certain je ne sais quoi that lends you a vibrancy. In this look, I have used a delicious bright green color that is actually my mum’s. I took it (emotionally blackmailed her to keep it) from her when she came from Bombay (Mumbai) to help me during the last days of pregnancy. I have paired it with an old simple green T-shirt (from Dubai) and my Hobbs skirt from this post. I have used my trusted Timberland boots from this post and the over sized scarf is actually my blanket coat. I have also used a dark pink Gap bag from this post to add another dimension to the look.
Talking about winter, I can vouch last year at this time I was still wearing summery dresses rather than covering myself in so many layers but the temperature has already plummeted to a -1 degree Celsius. And as soon as I got ready to step outside (mind you with an unpredictable baby on tow) it started pouring like cats and dogs. But a girl (and a fashion blogger) got to do what a girl to do. I happily kept the coat on me, took the photos inside the building and made peace with the fact that winter is coming back with a vengeance.

So who says vibrant hues are only for summer? Take a cue, bring out those colors and let your imagination run wild to keep you warm, bright and fashionably forward this winter. 🙂
